Academy Plans for March 16th through 20th, 2015

Greetings!

What a busy week!  First of all, I want to thank all of you who contributed flowers for the 7th grade Science flower dissection activity; that was very kind of you.  Look for the article on it in the April newsletter.  Next, conferences are fast approaching.  The dates are Tuesday, March 31st through Thursday, April 2nd.  Theses will be STUDENT led conferences, so your student will be leading the conference.  If you have not yet been contacted for a time or would also like to set up a "traditional" conference, please contact the Office (360-264-3600).  Tuesday has been set aside for the evening conferences, and Tuesday through Friday will be early release days, so please be forewarned.  Now on to this week's agenda:

MONDAY--Students silently read their biographies and we discussed learning styles.  NO HOMEWORK, however, students need to COMPLETE READING THEIR BIOGRAPHIES BY NEXT MONDAY (March 23rd).  Please ask your student where they are in their biography by now.

TUESDAY--Read biographies silently & worked on MAP testing results and their interpretation.  NO HOMEWORK.

WEDNESDAY--Read biographies silently and begin working on "reflections" for each of the pieces of work selected for the portfolio.  STUDENTS WILL ALSO BE CONTACTING YOU FOR STUDENT LED CONFERENCE (SLC) TIMES.  NO HOMEWORK.

THURSDAY--Mrs. Benek comes in for the "Say It Straight" lesson.  NO HOMEWORK.

FRIDAY--Read biographies and continue working on organizing SLC portfolios.  FINISH READING BIOGRAPHY BY MONDAY.

I'm really excited about the SLC's--it's my second favorite week of the year (Outdoor School is my favorite).  I hope your student is as excited about it as I am.  Please feel free to contact me (classroom phone number:  360-264-3644, email address:  humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us) with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Have a wonderful week,
Michele Humble
