7th Grade Science Plans for February 29th through March 4th, 2016

Greetings!

In just one week I am a day late (and a dollar short) on emailing progress reports as well behind on my grading--how can that happen so quickly?  (My husband says it's because I work my students so hard--I'm sure they would agree.)  Well, let's get on to what's happening this week:

MONDAY--Students will observe their radish and rye seeds one last time, and will finish watching the video "Secret Garden", so NO HOMEWORK.

TUESDAY--Students will use microscopes to make observations of their roots, so NO HOMEWORK.

WEDNESDAY--Students will finish discussing the worksheets they did along with "Secret Garden".  These will be TURNED IN AT THE END OF THE PERIOD, so again, NO HOMEWORK.

THURSDAY--Students will be taking the Math practice test for the SBAC, so NO HOMEWORK.

FRIDAY--NO SCHOOL.

Hopefully you were already aware there will be no school this Friday, and have planned accordingly.
With the end of the trimester right around the corner, I want you to be very aware that THE LAST DAY FOR MISSING WORK, LATE WORK, AND/OR EXTRA CREDIT IS FRIDAY, MARCH 11th. Please have your student plan accordingly.

Speaking of the SBAC, there are some wonderful resources online.  Here is the URL that will send you to their site: http://wa.portal.airast.org/students-and-families/  This is for students and THEIR PARENTS as well.  Please take a brief visit to see what's available to you as well as your student.

If you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns, please contact me.  The best email address is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us and the phone number in my classroom is (360) 264-3644.

Have a wonderful week,
Michele Humble

FRIDAY--Students complete the PRACTICE TEST.  CONTINUE STUDYING THE SCIENCE NOTEBOOKS AT HOME.

Now here's the real reason I'm sending this out:  Next Wednesday, Thursday, Friday student will be TAKING THE END OF THE UNIT TEST.  This test will be WORTH 100 POINTS.  We will review Thursday & Friday this week with the practice test, then will review again next Monday & Tuesday.  PLEASE HELP YOUR STUDENT STUDY.  They should bring their Science Notebooks home nightly and focus on the vocabulary.  Waiting until Tuesday night and skimming through the material will not be enough. Also, please discuss the labs that are in the Science Notebooks and the "reflections" your student wrote.  All of this will help on the final exam.  The SCIENCE NOTEBOOKS WILL BE TURNED IN THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 24TH AND WILL BE WORTH 100 POINTS.  Please make sure your student's Science Notebook is complete.  Hope this helps you & your student to prepare for the upcoming test.
