Academy Plans for March 21st through 25th, 2016

Greetings!

And welcome to Trimester #3.  I believe you are seeing your student's grades for Trimester #2, so it's "What You See, Is What You Get on Your Report Card".  Please correct me if I'm wrong--actually, I would appreciate an email confirming that IS what you are seeing.  Now on to this week's plans:

MONDAY--Students will begin assembling their portfolios for the Student Led Conferences (SLC), so NO HOMEWORK.

TUESDAY--Students will complete a learning styles inventory in class and will call to schedule their Student Led Conference, so NO HOMEWORK.

WEDNESDAY--LATE START DAY--Students will organize their portfolios to include testing data, so NO HOMEWORK.

THURSDAY--Students will take a career survey for their portfolios.  This will be due at the end of class, so NO HOMEWORK.

FRIDAY--Students will begin rehearsing their SLC's, so NO HOMEWORK.

Just a reminder that Wednesday is a "Late Start Day".  Also, the "hard copies" of your student's report card will be mailed out on April 1st (Ironic?), so please be on the lookout for them after that date.
Also, NEXT WEEK are the "Student Led Conferences" from Tuesday through Thursday.  The school schedule for that week is "Early Release Days" Tuesday through Friday; please plan accordingly.  If you have not been contacted for a time yet, please contact the Office at (360) 264-3600 to set up a time.  This is my second favorite week of the year (behind Outdoor School, of course)--gives the students a chance to "strut their stuff".

If you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns, please contact me.  The best email address is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us and the phone number in my classroom is (360) 264-3644.

Have a wonderful week,
Michele Humble

Academy Plans for March 7th through 11th, 2016

Greetings!

Well, everything has been graded and entered into this grade book except some extra credit.  A reminder that this second trimester comes to a close on Friday, March 19th, and that will be an early release day.  Now on to this week's plans:

MONDAY--Students will read Chapters 15 & 16 aloud from "The Golden Goblet", so NO HOMEWORK.

TUESDAY--Mrs. Benek will come in to do a "Say It Straight" lesson, so NO HOMEWORK.

WEDNESDAY--LATE START DAY--Students will finish reading "The Golden Goblet" aloud, so NO HOMEWORK.

THURSDAY--Students will work on the questions & worksheet that go with Chapters 15 & 16 from "The Golden Goblet".  This will be HOMEWORK DUE THURSDAY.  Remember:  SCIENCE NOTEBOOKS ARE DUE TODAY.

FRIDAY--Mrs. Benek will return for another "Say It Straight" lesson, so NO HOMEWORK.

It has come to my attention that when students are absent, parents are contacting the Office asking for the work your student will miss.  That is a VERY GOOD THING, and it is greatly appreciated.  Please be aware that my planning time is 2nd period (approximately 9:15 to 10:00 a.m.).  If the school is contacted after that time, I will not be able to get your student's work.  I have five straight Science classes to set up for, and will not have time to do that.  If you can please contact the Office (or email or call me) EARLY (or at lease before 9:00 a.m.), I should be able to locate your student's assignments and get it down to the Office.  Thank you for this in advance.

Two reminders:
Wednesday, March 9th is a LATE START DAY, so please plan accordingly, and
Friday, March 11th is the LAST DAY FOR MISSING ASSIGNMENTS, LATE WORK, AND EXTRA CREDIT.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, and/or concerns you may have.  The best email to reach me at is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us and the phone number in my classroom is (360) 264-3644.

MONDAY--Students will be given an article entitled "Seeds on the Move" and a worksheet to go along with it.  This is HOMEWORK DUE TUESDAY.

The Science Notebooks, which are due Tuesday, March 8th, are worth 100 points, so if your student has crashed and burned on other assignments and/or tests, a great job on his/her Science Notebook will help bail that grade out.  Monday night would be a good time to look it over before turning it in on Tuesday.
