ESD Training

Please excuse me while I "play".  I'm taking a class at the ESD on using this Blogger site more effectively.  If I were doing the sixth grade Science unit "Mixtures and Solutions", I would use this image for the making an Atom model.
.

Also, I might want to use this video on atoms that you could go to by clicking on this link

I'm also trying to figure out how to include my "Mixtures and Solutions" PowerPoint.  Let's see if this works:  click here

Thank you for allowing me to "experiment".  Hope you are having a wonderful summer,
Michele Humble

Academy Plans for June 6th through 10th, 2016

Greetings!

Phew! Is it hot!  Wish we could save this weather for Thursday when we go to Wild Waves.  So here are the plans for this week:

MONDAY--This will be the last day students have to work on their Biography Project in class.  It now becomes HOMEWORK DUE WEDNESDAY.

TUESDAY--Students will brainstorm middle school topics for the incoming sixth graders.  They will be working in groups to create a five paragraph essay in letter format to cover these topics.  This project will be DUE FRIDAY.

WEDNESDAY--Students will work on their "Sixth Grade Letter"/essay.  NO HOMEWORK, but DUE FRIDAY.

THURSDAY--On Track Day at Wild Waves for Qualifying Students--Students not going will work on the "Sixth Grade Letter" which is DUE FRIDAY.

FRIDAY--Students will rehearse presenting their "Sixth Grade Letters" for Monday.  So NO "real" HOMEWORK over the weekend.

Even though we have only seven days left, I would like to point out that the grade you see here is NOT necessarily "What You See Is What You Get".  You will notice there are still several assignments left (Biography Project--worth 100 points, Sixth Grade Letter, two more Agenda grades-- a total of 20 points).  This could still change your student's grade a lot.  Please monitor their work for completeness and quality, and make sure it gets turned in.  The Biography Project is especially important (100 POINTS).  These may be turned in early.

Please contact me with questions, comments, and/or concerns if you have any.  The best email address to reach me at is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us and the phone number in my classroom is (360) 264-3644.

Have a wonderful week,
Michele Humble

7th Grade Science Plans for June 6th through 10th, 2016

Greetings!

Phew! Is it hot!  Wish we could save this weather for Thursday when we go to Wild Waves.  So here are the plans for this week:

MONDAY--Students will review work from last week and will redo the "Car Slope Lab".  NO HOMEWORK.

TUESDAY--Students will go over graphing concepts and will graph data from yesterday's lab.  If not completed in class, this is HOMEWORK DUE WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY--Students will watch a video on Motion and will complete a worksheet that goes with it.  This will be corrected in class and will be turned in at the end of the period, so  NO HOMEWORK.

THURSDAY--On Track Day at Wild Waves for Qualifying Students--Students not going will receive an assignment and time to work on it in class.  If it is not completed in class, it is HOMEWORK DUE FRIDAY.

FRIDAY--Students will take the EXAM #2 POST TEST (Worth 100 POINTS).  NO HOMEWORK, however, SCIENCE NOTEBOOKS ARE DUE TODAY (They are worth 100 POINTS.)

FYI, if your student is going on the Wild Waves trip, they are excused from the assignment and will receive an automatic "A" on it.

Even though we have only seven days left, I would like to point out that the grade you see here is NOT necessarily "What You See Is What You Get".  You will also notice two of their assignments are 100 POINTS EACH.  This would change your student's grade a lot.  Please monitor their work for completeness and quality, and make sure it gets turned in.  THESE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IF THEY ARE TURNED IN LATE.  FRIDAY IS THE DEADLINE FOR TURNING IN SCIENCE NOTEBOOKS.  They may be turned in early.

Please contact me with questions, comments, and/or concerns if you have any.  The best email address to reach me at is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us and the phone number in my classroom is (360) 264-3644.

Have a wonderful week,

Change in Due Date

Just to let you know:

Since I will not be in class tomorrow (Friday, June 3rd), I am moving the "due date" for late work, missing assignments, and extra credit to Monday, June 6th.

Also, if your student is in my SIXTH GRADE SCIENCE CLASS, please look at the grading rubric that is attached to the Planetary Science Slide Show and the Planetary Science Oral Presentation.  This will give you an idea of how your student will be graded.

Thank you,
Michele Humble
