Art Plans for June 9th through 13th, 2014

Greetings!

Well, things are winding down now, but there are still some assignments to go.  Also, I just wanted to remind you that THE LAST DAY FOR MISSING/LATE WORK & EXTRA CREDIT IS FRIDAY, JUNE 13TH.  We got a little behind in our classwork last week, so we will try to do some catching up.  Now here's what's happening this week:

MONDAY--We will continue to work on the "Texture/Composition" project in class today.  Most students will probably finish it in class, otherwise it will be DUE TUESDAY.

TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY--I am hoping we will be able to cover at least one day on the "Fabric/Balance" project.  This will be done in class, so there will be NO HOMEWORK.

THURSDAY--My Honor Society students will be enjoying their well earned trip to Seattle.  Those who stay behind will continue to work on the "Fabric/Balance" project.  NO HOMEWORK.

FRIDAY--We will paint the "Ancient Egypt Clay Project".  This will probably take at least two days, so should be DUE NEXT MONDAY.

Just a reminder that next Friday (June 13th) at 6:00 p.m. the 2014 class of Tenino High School will be graduating at Beaver Stadium.  If you are planning on attending, be sure to get there early, the place is packed.

Have a wonderful week,
Michele Humble

Academy Plans for June 9th through 13th, 2014

Greetings!

Well, things are winding down now, but there are still some assignments to go.  Also, I just wanted to remind you that THE LAST DAY FOR MISSING/LATE WORK & EXTRA CREDIT IS FRIDAY, JUNE 13TH.  Project.  Hopefully, YOU HAVE DONE YOUR HOMEWORK.  I told the students over a week ago that YOU would be PROOF-READING THE DRAFTS of the Biography project.  You should have looked over (and hopefully written on) the rough drafts of the three traits, plus the introduction and conclusion.  You should have also received a green "Editing Sheet" to write your comments on.  THESE ARE DUE MONDAY, when the students walk in the door.  I warned them to NOT WAIT UNTIL SUNDAY NIGHT to hand these to you.  Hopefully they followed those directions.  Now here's what's happening this week:

MONDAY--To get ready for our Biography Project, students will work on the cover in class today.  It will be DUE TUESDAY.

TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, & FRIDAY--Students will work on the written part of the Biography project.  Although they will have time to work on this in class on these days, if will become homework if it is not completed by Friday.  This project is DUE MONDAY, JUNE 16TH.

THURSDAY--My Honor Society students will be enjoying their well earned trip to Seattle.  Those who stay behind will be working on the Biography Project which is due the following Monday (June 16th).

Just a reminder that next Friday (June 13th) at 6:00 p.m. the 2014 class of Tenino High School will be graduating at Beaver Stadium.  If you are planning on attending, be sure to get there early, the place is packed.

Have a wonderful week,

Science Plans for June 9th through 13th, 2014

Greetings!

Well, things are winding down now, but there are still some assignments to go.  Also, I just wanted to remind you that THE LAST DAY FOR MISSING/LATE WORK & EXTRA CREDIT IS FRIDAY, JUNE 13TH.  Now here's what's happening this week:

MONDAY--The HOMEWORK assignment is Chapter 2 Section 4.  Students will have work time on this in class, but it is DUE TUESDAY.

TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, & FRIDAY--I like to wind down our Astronomy unit by watching "Apollo 13".  We watch, stop, and discuss as we go.  I know it is rated PG-13, and this is mostly for the swearing (sorry about that) and the suspense.  I believe despite the rating, it's a story the students should hear.  If you do not want your student to participate, just let me know, and I will arrange for your child to work on an alternate assignment in the library.  Obviously no homework assignments on these days.

THURSDAY--My Honor Society students will be going on their well earned trip to Seattle, so there will be no homework assignment.  Since I don't want them to miss any of the movie, the rest of us will do some space demonstrations, and possibly look at the NASA website.

Just a reminder that next Friday (June 13th) at 6:00 p.m. the 2014 class of Tenino High School will be graduating at Beaver Stadium.  If you are planning on attending, be sure to get there early, the place is packed.

Have a wonderful week,

Art Plans for June 2nd through 6th, 2014

Greetings!

Finally!  Nice weather on the weekend!  And the forecast for the rest of this week is supposed to be nice too.  Let's hope we can save some for our "End of the Year Field Day" on Tuesday, June 17th.  Now on to the plans for this week:

MONDAY--Some of the students need to complete their CPBA (State test in Art), so that is what we will be doing today.  No homework.

TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY--We will begin a short project on texture.  It will involve tempera paints and printmaking, so advise your student to wear his/her "grubbies" for these two days.

THURSDAY & FRIDAY--We will start a project working with fabrics (felt) and balance (symmetrical, asymmetrical, or radial).  We will work on this in class, there is no homework over the weekend.

The year is ticking down, so please be aware that the LAST DAY FOR MISSING WORK AND EXTRA CREDIT IS FRIDAY, JUNE 13TH.

Enjoy the nice weather this week, and please contact me with any questions or concerns.  My email address is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us and the phone number in my classroom is (360) 264-3644.

Academy Plans for June 2nd through 6th, 2014

Greetings!

Finally!  Nice weather on the weekend!  And the forecast for the rest of this week is supposed to be nice too.  Let's hope we can save some for our "End of the Year Field Day" on Tuesday, June 17th.  Now on to the plans for this week:

MONDAY--Our last big project of the year is an persuasive essay based on the biography your student should have already read.  Your student should have already turned in the list of the three character traits possessed by the person he/she read about.  Today we will write the rough draft about that first trait.  This draft should be AT LEAST ONE PARAGRAPH LONG.  THIS HOMEWORK IS DUE TUESDAY.

TUESDAY--Your student will write the rough draft for the character second trait; this should be at least one paragraph long.  THIS HOMEWORK DUE ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY--Your student will write the rough draft for the third character trait, which should be a minimum of one paragraph long. This is HOMEWORK IS DUE ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY--We will review introductions and conclusions, then your student will write the rough draft for the introduction and conclusion to be used on his/her biography project.  THIS ROUGH DRAFT IS DUE ON FRIDAY.

FRIDAY--We will look over samples of the final biography projects.  Students who have all four of their rough drafts turned in will begin the final project next week.  No homework over the weekend.

We are putting together the final poetry book project.  PLEASE LOOK TO MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENT TURNED IN THE  "ROUGH DRAFT" OF HIS/HER POETRY BOOK.  This was work 100 points, and if it isn't turned in, I'm fairly certain your student is receiving a failing grade in this Academy class.  If this is the case, please help your student remedy this situation.
