Art Plans for March 30th through April 3rd, 2015

Greetings!

I am really looking forward to seeing some of you at our Student Led Conferences this week.  Do remember that this means it will be early release Tuesday through Friday.  Tuesday is the designated day for the evening conferences, and if you would still like a "traditional" conference, it's not too late to sign up for one of those.  Just call the main office at (360) 264-3600 and request one.

Now on to this week's plans:

MONDAY--Students will continue to work on the quilling project.  This MAY BE DUE FRIDAY.  (It's the first time I've done this project, and it's taking longer than I thought it would.)

TUESDAY--NO ART CLASS DUE TO THE EARLY RELEASE SCHEDULE.

WEDNESDAY--Students will have time to work on their quilling project.  MAY BE DUE FRIDAY.

THURSDAY--NO ART CLASS DUE TO THE EARLY RELEASE SCHEDULE.

FRIDAY--Students will have time to work on their quilling project.  MAY BE DUE TODAY (FRIDAY).

The has passed for late work & extra credit, which I have as yet to put into this electronic gradebook, and there are some assignments that will be coming in this week, so it's not necessarily "what you see is what you get".  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me ASAP.  My classroom phone number is: (360) 264-3644 and the best email to reach me at is:  humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us

Have a wonderful week, and I look forward to seeing you soon,
Michele Humble

Art Plans for March 23rd through 27th, 2015

Greetings!

Well, only two weeks left in Quarter #3--where did the time go?  Just wanted to let you know in advance:  THE LAST DAY FOR MISSING ASSIGNMENTS, REDOING WORK, RETAKING TESTS, AND EXTRA CREDIT IS FRIDAY, MARCH 27TH.  I will be available for such things after school on Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday, but not Thursday or Friday.

I'm quite disappointed in some of my Art students; the "Elements of Art" book is worth 160 points because we spent nearly three weeks on it, but nine of the students have not turned it in.  If your child is one of these students, please have a serious discussion with him/her about getting this important project completed and turned in.  Time is running out.

Now on to this week's plans:

MONDAY through THURSDAY--Students will have time in class to work on the quilling project this week.  It will be DUE FRIDAY.

FRIDAY--Students will watch an Art video, so NO HOMEWORK.

Another announcement that pertains to this week:  I will be gone on Thursday, March 26th (more Science training), so there will be a substitute in the classroom.

As always, if you wish to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns, my email address is:  humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us and the phone number in my classroom is (360) 264-3644.

Have a wonderful week,

Plea for Flowers

Eek!  I know I just emailed progress reports last night, but I forgot something important!  Early next week (Monday I hope), the entire 7th grader Science class (105 of them) are supposed to do a flower dissection.  We need about that many flowers.  Now since the students will be cutting them up, they don't need to be "florist shop quality"--almost anything will do.  The best for dissection are daffodils, tulips, or anything in the lily family.  Now I know the parents/guardians of my 6th graders are probably wondering why I am sending this to you, but you can just think of it as "paying it forward"--after all, your student will be doing this next year in 7th grade.  If you can help us out, just have your student bring your floral donations to me at any time in Room #4.

Thanks for your help,
Michele Humble

Art Plans for March 9th through 13th, 2015

Greetings!

Well, I'm getting closer to my Sunday target--maybe next week?  Just a reminder that Wednesday is a LATE START DAY, so please plan accordingly.  Also, I will be gone on Friday; Mrs. Harris & I are going to make up that Science curriculum day we missed in February.  Here are the plans for this week:

MONDAY--Students will work on the "Value" page for their "Elements of Art" books.  They will have time to work on this in class, and it will be DUE FRIDAY.

TUESDAY--Students will work on the "Space" page for their "Elements of Art" book.  Again they will have time to work on this in class, and it will be DUE FRIDAY.

WEDNESDAY--Students will glue their color wheels onto the "Color" page of their "Elements of Art" books.  These will be DUE ON FRIDAY.

THURSDAY--Students will complete the "Color" page in their "Elements of Art" books.  These will be DUE ON FRIDAY.

FRIDAY--Students will use this day as a "catch up" day to make sure their "Elements of Art" books are complete.  These will be DUE AT THE END OF THE PERIOD, so NO HOMEWORK.

Because we have been working on the "Elements of Art" books for two weeks now, it will be worth 140 points (20 points per page, and the cover has already been graded).  Most students are taking this very seriously, so please ask your student to see his/her work.

As always, please feel free to contact me [Email: humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us or Phone: (360) 264-3644].

Academy Plans for March 2nd through 6th, 2015

Greetings!

No, I am not dead!  It's just that my daughter is getting married (Tenino Beaver Class of 2004) and I've be doing "Mother of the Bride" duties like planning & throwing her bridal shower.  Now that that has happened, it's taken me several days to catch up on my grading so this progress report will be relevant.  I'm so sorry about being behind; it shouldn't happen again.  (The wedding isn't until July.)  This class (Academy) is the only one I am still behind in entering grades, so I would encourage you to check back in about 24 hours; I will probably resend this tomorrow night when I am more current.  But it's been a while since you've seen these, so I figured this would have to due.  Now on to this week's events:

MONDAY--Students will discuss "The Golden Goblet" in class, and writing book reviews.  Students will write their own book review of this novel as a HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT.  THIS WILL BE DUE TUESDAY.

TUESDAY--Students will go to the library and select their biography for our next "big" project.  So NO HOMEWORK.

WEDNESDAY--Students will be given the entire period to begin reading their biography silently, so again, NO HOMEWORK.

THURSDAY--Students will meet with Mrs. Benek for our "Say It Straight" lesson.  NO HOMEWORK.

FRIDAY--Students will be introduced the binder they will be using for their student led conferences.  This will be mostly introduction & displays, thus NO HOMEWORK.

Other items of interest:  Next Wednesday is a "LATE START DAY", several events like the "Kiss A Goat" competition are going on, and there is a PTA sponsored dance on Friday the 13th. (Appropriate, huh?)

Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns [Email--humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us or phone (360) 264-3644].
