7th Grade Science Plans for October 24th through 27th, 2016

Greetings!

Well, I'm back!  I survived last week's Outdoor School, and your Seventh Grade student easily survived the week without me.  Now let's take a look at what we will be doing this week:

MONDAY:  I will be catching up with the students to find out what they did last week, so NO HOMEWORK.

TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY:  Students will work on their "Grand Canyon Packets".  These will be DUE ON FRIDAY.

THURSDAY:  Students will begin working on geologic vocabulary which they will record in their Science Notebooks, so NO HOMEWORK.

FRIDAY:  Students will watch a geology video and will take notes, which will be DUE AT THE END OF THE PERIOD, so NO HOMEWORK.

You will be receiving your student's "Mid-Term Grades" shortly.  This means we are half way through the first trimester.  If you or your student is not satisfied with these grades, it's not too late to change them.  Usually, what drags a student's grade down the most, are missing assignments.  Please double check to see if your student has any and if so, get the work completed and turned in as soon as possible.

Also, if you would like to schedule a conference (November 7th through 10th), please contact the Office (360-264-3600).  Those evening conferences usually fill up first, so if you need one of those, you may want to call and/or email very soon.

If you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns, please contact me as soon as possible.  The best phone number to reach me is (360) 264-3644 and the best email is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us

Have a wonderful week,
Michele Humble

6th Grade Science Plans for October 17th through 21st, 2016

Greetings!

FINALLY!!!  I have been trying to email progress reports all week, and every evening when I have sat down to do so, Skyward has been "down".  Frustrating to say the least.  Well, better late than never.  I guess the good news is that there was NO HOMEWORK at all last week, so that worked out well.  Now on to this week's plans:

MONDAY--Weather permitting, students will be taking part in the "Mentos and Diet Coke" experiment, so NO HOMEWORK.

TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY--We will be up at Cispus at Outdoor School--Hooray, hooray!  It's finally here!  So obviously, NO HOMEWORK.  If at all possible, please DROP YOUR STUDENT OFF AT SCHOOL ON TUESDAY WITH ALL OF HIS/HER GEAR and arrange to HAVE SOMEONE HERE AT TMS FRIDAY AT APPROXIMATELY 2:30 P.M. TO PICK HIM/HER UP.  The students are so exhausted after spending their week at ODS.

And if may not be too late to send mail if you get it posted on Monday. Be sure to address it to your student, and put "C/O Tenino Middle School" for prompt delivery.  The Cispus contact information is:

Cispus Learning Center
2142 Cispus Rd.
Randle, Wa 98377
360-497-7131 Fax 360-497-7132

Their office is open 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and if you call they are good at tracking me down in case of emergency.

If you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns, please contact me at the following:  Phone--(360) 264-3644 and email at humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us  (It will probably be the following week before I respond--the kids aren't the only ones who get tuckered out up there!)

Have a wonderful week,

MONDAY--Students will be taking the "Procedure Writing Test".  It will be due at the end of the period, so NO HOMEWORK.

TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY--Ms. Dryden will be taking over my 7th Grade class this week while I am at Outdoor School.  She will be starting the unit on Geology by introducing the Grand Canyon.  I am not sure if there will be homework this week, but I doubt it.  There will be plenty of work time in class, so your student should be able to complete assignments in class.

Please remember that Wednesday is a LATE START DAY, so plan accordingly.

If you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns, please contact me at the following:  Phone--(360) 264-3644 and email at humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us

Academy Plans for October 3rd through 7th, 2016

Greetings!

Hope you had a terrific weekend! Now let's see what this week holds in store:

MONDAY--We will complete the book "How to Eat Fried Worms", so NO HOMEWORK.

TUESDAY--Students will fill in a "plot line" for "Fried Worms".  This is HOMEWORK DUE WEDNESDAY.

FRIDAY--Students will be introduced to their "Student Led Conference" portfolios, so NO HOMEWORK.

Thanks for such a great turnout at the Outdoor School meeting last Thursday night.  Just a reminder to please get the T-SHIRT ORDER FORMS TURNED IN TUESDAY, OCT. 4TH.  Also, the PERMISSION/MEDICAL FORMS ARE DUE TUESDAY, OCT. 11TH, but sooner is better!  Please!  Also, if your student is bringing medication to Cispus, he/she needs to bring it and the necessary paperwork to school by TUESDAY, OCT. 11TH.  Please don't forget the $75 tuition should be paid prior to your student attending Cispus.  Thank you!  (Don't forget some scholarships are available--have your student ask for a form.)

I forgot to ask for help on the "Talent Night Screening Committee" for Cispus.  Next week (October 10th through 13th) I could use two to three (or more) parents to screen the "acts" for Talent Night for Outdoor School.  This would involve watching the students perform, making sure their performance is "school appropriate", and perhaps giving them some feedback to improve their act.  This would take place in private (the Multi-Purpose Room) during the school day (8:20 to 2:50), and would probably only take about two hours.  If some students forget their music, props, etc., it might take an extra day.  PLEASE TALK TO SOME OTHER PARENTS TO SEE SOME DAYS & TIMES WHEN YOU COULD GET THIS TO WORK OUT FOR YOU AND CONTACT ME.

Don't forget that this Wednesday, October 5th, is a LATE START DAY.  Please plan accordingly.
