6th Grade Science Plans for March 27th through 31st, 2017

Greetings!

Remember me?  Sorry I have been remiss these past several weeks, but take heart!  Our volleyball season ends the Thursday after Spring Break.  So if you can put up with me until then, I promise to return to my at least semi-reliable emailed progress reports.  So on to this week's plans:

MONDAY:  Students will work on their Practical Lab Test Final, so NO HOMEWORK.

TUESDAY--4th Period Only:  Microscope Written Test, so NO HOMEWORK.

WEDNESDAY--5th, 6th, & 7th Periods:  Microscope Written Test, so NO HOMEWORK.

THURSDAY:  This class DOES NOT MEET.

FRIDAY:  Students work on their Microscope Drawing Final which is DUE AT THE END OF THE PERIOD, so NO HOMEWORK.

Now on to the topic of conferences.  As you know, Tuesday through Thursday this week will be conference time.  We will be doing "arena style" conferencing this time, so all of the teachers will be available in an open area (I will be "stationed" in the library).  Although some students have assigned conference time, please feel free to drop by and see if your student's teacher has an opening.  We all would love to speak with you about your student's progress.

I'm sure you know that this week will be early release Tuesday through Friday, meaning that students will be released at 11:40 a.m. daily.  Spring Break begins Monday, April 3rd and school resumes Monday, April 10th.

Please let me know if you ever have any questions, comments, and/or concerns.  The phone number in my classroom is (360) 264-3644 and the best email address to reach me at is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us

Have a wonderful week and a delightful Spring Break,
Michele Humble

Academy Plans for March 27th through 31st, 2017

Greetings!

Remember me?  Sorry I have been remiss these past several weeks, but take heart!  Our volleyball season ends the Thursday after Spring Break.  So if you can put up with me until then, I promise to return to my at least semi-reliable emailed progress reports.  So on to this week's plans:

MONDAY & TUESDAY:  Practice for Student Led Conferences.  NO HOMEWORK.

WEDNESDAY:  This class DOES NOT MEET.

THURSDAY:  Hold Class Elections.  NO HOMEWORK.

FRIDAY:  This class DOES NOT MEET.

Now on to the topic of Student Led Conferences.  My Academy class has been accumulating work since the beginning of the year, has researched a possible future career & created a "slide show" on it, have taken a survey on learning styles, set goals for the remainder of the year, and have self identified as a Student, Worker, and Citizen.  Now your student will present to you his/her accomplishments.  It is NOT a meeting called by me where I do all of the talking, it is your student's opportunity to present his/her portfolio.  Therefore, please feel free to drop in as your schedule allows, and allow 15 to 20 minutes for your student's presentation.  It is not necessary for me to be there, but I plan on dropping by.  Next to Outdoor School, this is my favorite part of the school year.  Presently, I am "stationed" in the library, but once I see you, I will attempt to duck out and join you.  The SLC's are usually most successful in our classroom (Room #4).  If I cannot attend, I have asked our counselor, Carol Benek, to sit in for me (she enjoys these almost as much as I do).  Some times to avoid if your really want me to attend:

Tuesday--3:15 to 5:15 p.m.--Home Volleyball Game in the Gym
Wednesday--2:15 through the end of the School Day--Away Volleyball Game
Thursday--2:45 through the end of the School Day--Away Volleyball Game
Friday--No Conferences are being held

Some especially GOOD TIMES for me to attend:
Tuesday--12:55 to 3:15 p.m. and 6:45 to 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday--12:55 to 2:15 p.m.
Thursday--Anytime from 12:20 to 2:45 p.m.

Hope this information helps, and if you cannot attend during these times, I hope that we will be able to arrange a time AFTER SPRING BREAK.   I feel very strongly that this is a valuable experience for your student, and hope you can make every effort to attend.
