Academy Plans for May 1st through 5th, 2017

Greetings!

Well, we survived our second week of ELA SBA testing, so now we'll get a little time off before we tackle Math in a few weeks.  In the meantime, here's what we're doing in class this week:

MONDAY & TUESDAY--Students will continue to work on the readings of the Greek myths plays, so NO HOMEWORK.

WEDNESDAY--LATE START DAY--Students will begin to rehearse the motions along with the reading.  NO HOMEWORK.

THURSDAY--Students will continue rehearsals of their Greek myth plays, so NO HOMEWORK.

FRIDAY--Students will begin to work on props for their plays, thus NO HOMEWORK.

As our big project right now are the Greek myth plays, it would be EXTREMELY HELPFUL IF YOU COULD READ LINES WITH YOUR STUDENT NIGHTLY.  I know will baseball, fast pitch, soccer, and other activities, this is asking a lot, but THE SOONER YOUR STUDENT MEMORIZES HIS/HER LINES, the sooner we will be able to put on the plays.  Also, those little tips & tricks you may share with your student, like expression, volume, timing, etc.  will prove to be SO valuable in our final performances.  Thank you for your help & support in advance.

I'm sure you are already aware that Wednesday, May 3rd is a LATE START DAY, so I am sure you have made arrangements for that.

If you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.  The best email address is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us and the phone number in my classroom is (360) 264-3644.

Have a wonderful week,
Michele Humble

6th Grade Science Plans for April 10th through 14th, 2017

Greetings!
I hope you enjoyed the Spring Break as much as I did!  Batteries are all recharged, and we should be ready to roll, and finish the last trimester strong.  So here is what we will be doing this week:

MONDAY--Students will discuss their Spring Break experiences, so NO HOMEWORK.

TUESDAY--Students will elect new class officers, so NO HOMEWORK.

WEDNESDAY--Students will work in lab groups on a "What is Life?" activity, so there will be NO HOMEWORK.

THURSDAY--Students will ADD NOTES TO THEIR SCIENCE NOTEBOOKS, so NO HOMEWORK.

FRIDAY--Students will build their "Mini Ponds".  This will be DUE AT END OF THE PERIOD, so there will be NO HOMEWORK.

This term your student’s SCIENCE NOTEBOOK IS GOING TO BE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.  Please discuss his/her responsibility to BRING THE SCIENCE NOTEBOOK TO CLASS EVERYDAY and TAKE NOTES IN IT.  Even if a student is absent, it is HIS/HER RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE UP THE NOTES IN THE SCIENCE NOTEBOOK.  Thank you so much for your support on this matter.

I was really disappointed in the scores on the “Microscope Written Test”.  Usually I have two or three perfect scores for each class.  This year I had none for the entire sixth grade.  Please look at your student’s score carefully.  I will allow any student who wants to RETAKE THE TEST FOR A BETTER SCORE UNTIL FRIDAY (April 14th) to do so.  Also, I will ONLY TAKE MISSING WORK/LABS UNTIL THIS FRIDAY.  After that, it will be TOO LATE TO REDO AND/OR TURN THEM IN.

Just a reminder that NEXT WEEK (April 19th) will be a LATE START DAY, so please plan accordingly.

And, NEXT WEEK STATE TESTING BEGINS AND CONTINUES INTO THE FOLLOWING WEEK.  This will impact our schedule, so your student may or may not have my class on test days.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Please contact me with any questions, comments, and/or concerns you may have.  The phone number in my classroom is (360) 264-3644 and the best email address to reach me at is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us  This is the last week of the volleyball season, so my communications should improve greatly after that!
