Academy Plans for June 2nd through 6th, 2014

Greetings!

Finally!  Nice weather on the weekend!  And the forecast for the rest of this week is supposed to be nice too.  Let's hope we can save some for our "End of the Year Field Day" on Tuesday, June 17th.  Now on to the plans for this week:

MONDAY--Our last big project of the year is an persuasive essay based on the biography your student should have already read.  Your student should have already turned in the list of the three character traits possessed by the person he/she read about.  Today we will write the rough draft about that first trait.  This draft should be AT LEAST ONE PARAGRAPH LONG.  THIS HOMEWORK IS DUE TUESDAY.

TUESDAY--Your student will write the rough draft for the character second trait; this should be at least one paragraph long.  THIS HOMEWORK DUE ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY--Your student will write the rough draft for the third character trait, which should be a minimum of one paragraph long. This is HOMEWORK IS DUE ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY--We will review introductions and conclusions, then your student will write the rough draft for the introduction and conclusion to be used on his/her biography project.  THIS ROUGH DRAFT IS DUE ON FRIDAY.

FRIDAY--We will look over samples of the final biography projects.  Students who have all four of their rough drafts turned in will begin the final project next week.  No homework over the weekend.

We are putting together the final poetry book project.  PLEASE LOOK TO MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENT TURNED IN THE  "ROUGH DRAFT" OF HIS/HER POETRY BOOK.  This was work 100 points, and if it isn't turned in, I'm fairly certain your student is receiving a failing grade in this Academy class.  If this is the case, please help your student remedy this situation.

The year is ticking down, so please be aware that the LAST DAY FOR MISSING WORK AND EXTRA CREDIT IS FRIDAY, JUNE 13TH.

Enjoy the nice weather this week, and please contact me with any questions or concerns.  My email address is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us and the phone number in my classroom is (360) 264-3644.
