6th Grade Science Plans for November 21st through 25th, 2016

Greetings!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend, even if it was a bit wet and windy.  Could have been worse, right?  Now on to the PLANS for this brief week:

MONDAY—Students will be using their Chromebooks to research the same element they selected for their atom model.  This worksheet will be DUE TUESDAY.  The Atom Model will also be DUE TUESDAY; it is worth 50 points, so please be sure it is done.  I am attaching the scoring rubric for this project so you can see what is expected.

TUESDAY—Students will review the atom & molecule vocabulary that should be in their Science Notebooks.  There will be NO HOMEWORK.

WEDNESDAY--EARLY RELEASE DAY—Students will play “Element Bingo”, so NO HOMEWORK.

THURSDAY & FRIDAY--NO SCHOOL--THANKSGIVING BREAK.

Just in case  your student hasn’t told you, his/her Science Notebook will be WORTH 100 POINTS—the “biggie” for the term.  It will be DUE WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH.  Please look over your student’s Science Notebook with him/her.  I attached the slide presentation for these notes in the Skyward Message Center sometime ago, and also emailed it to the students.  There is no excuse for students to not have these lecture notes completed in their Science Notebooks.

In case you aren't aware, this first trimester ends Friday, December 2nd.  In order to get everything graded and in the grade book in time for the report cards--ALL EXTRA CREDIT & MISSING WORK IS DUE WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH.  Please look over this progress report WITH your student.  This four and a half day weekend would be the perfect time to get caught up on any missing work, however in some cases your child may need to pick up a worksheet or some other form of "hard copy".  Please plan accordingly.

As always, if you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns, please contact me.  The best phone number is (360) 264-3644 and the best email address is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us

Have a terrific (abet short) week,
Michele Humble
