Academy Plans for April 13th through 17th, 2015

Greetings!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break!  Now our batteries are all recharged to take on the final quarter and the "Smarter Balanced" and MAP testing.  Remember: WEDNESDAY IS A LATE START DAY.  Here's what we will be doing this week:

MONDAY--To continue our biography project, students will brainstorm character traits, then will select three they feel the person they have been reading about exhibited.  This is HOMEWORK, & is DUE TUESDAY.

TUESDAY--Students will write the "rough draft" of the first paragraph of the biography project.  This should contain THREE SPECIFIC EXAMPLES from the biography's text that shows the person possessed that particular character trait.  THIS DRAFT IS DUE WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY--LATE START DAY--Students will participate in our 3rd Quarter auction and the election of our new treasurers.  NO HOMEWORK.

THURSDAY--Students will peer edit the first character trait paragraph.  Then I will ask YOU TO EDIT THE PIECE TOO; SO YOU HAVE HOMEWORK THAT IS DUE FRIDAY.

FRIDAY--Mrs. Benek will be coming in for a "Say It Straight" lesson.  Thus NO HOMEWORK.

I hope the grades you see are the final marks for the third quarter.  The report cards will be printed this week and should be mailed out shortly thereafter.  Look for them late this weekend or early next week.  The "Smarter Balanced" testing will begin April 27th, and will last about three weeks.  The MAP testing will begin when all of that is complete.

As always, please contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns you may have.  The best email address to contact me at is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us and the phone number in my classroom is (360) 264-3644.

Have a wonderful week,
Michele Humble
