6th Grade Science Plans for May 30th through June 3rd, 2017

Greetings!

What a beautiful holiday weekend!  And, boy, did the kids come in tired today.  A good time must have been had by all.  So here are the plans for this week:

MONDAY--MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY--NO SCHOOL

TUESDAY--Students will add information to their Science Notebooks.  All SCIENCE NOTEBOOKS SHOULD BE BROUGHT HOME EVERYDAY THIS WEEK TO STUDY FOR THE TEST.

WEDNESDAY--Students will use their Chromebooks on the FOSS website to review for the TEST.  This assignment should be considered HOMEWORK, which should be COMPLETED BY FRIDAY.  It should not be turned in before Friday; it should be used to study.

THURSDAY--We will complete Investigation 4.3.  NO HOMEWORK.

FRIDAY--Students will complete the CELLS TEST.  It will be DUE AT THE END OF THE PERIOD, so again, NO HOMEWORK.

Due to lack of time, students will NOT BE ALLOWED TO "RETAKE" FRIDAY'S TEST.  Please work with your student to study his/her Science Notebook, and other assignments in preparation for this test.

I have noticed some students have developed a "short timer's" attitude when it comes to school.  This is not wise.  Please discuss with your student the fact that we have nearly four weeks of school left, and I certainly do not plan on wasting a moment of this instructional time.  This means there will be several more assignments, tests, activities, and/or other graded assignments, which could really affect a student's grade.  Many of the students have indicated they intend to participate in school sports when they return next fall.  As a coach, I know that ONE "F" ON A REPORT CARD =  TWO WEEKS OF INELIGIBILITY, AND TWO OR MORE "F's" = THREE WEEKS OF INELIGIBILITY.  This is NOT when practice starts, which will be BEFORE the school year starts.  It will begin from the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.  This could result in missing some of the first competitions in his/her sport.  I would hate to see you pay the Sports Fee and not get your money's worth.  Besides, no going on vacation early in my class!

If you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns, please contact me.  The best email address to reach me at is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us and the phone number in my classroom is (360) 264-3644.

Have a wonderful week,
Michele Humble
