6th Grade Science Plans for May 11th through 15th, 2015

Greetings!

Sorry this is late.  Too much "Mother's Day", I guess.  Hope yours was a good one and that you enjoyed the wonderful weather we had this weekend.  So here's what's happening this week:

MONDAY--Students will watch a video on Galileo and start their "Moon Logs", so NO HOMEWORK.

TUESDAY--Students will hear the first Moon myth, and will make observations on the Moon in their Science Notebooks, so NO HOMEWORK.

WEDNESDAY--Students will hear the second Moon myth, and will generate questions on the Moon.  These will be DUE AT THE END OF THE PERIOD, so NO HOMEWORK.

THURSDAY--Students will hear the third Moon myth and will watch a video on the Moon and will take notes on it.  NO HOMEWORK.

FRIDAY--Students will hear the fourth Moon myth and will put the questions into categories.  NO HOMEWORK.

I am very concerned with the dip in Science grades.  I fear some of the students are going on vacation about one month early.  They didn't do very well on Exam #3 and I think that's because SO MANY OF THEM DID NOT DO THE HOMEWORK.  We're wading into some steep stuff--"Local Noon" and Time Zones; students need to do the practice (homework) in order to master these skills.  Please make sure your student is doing this.  It will help in so many ways.

There are no other "biggies" this week, but just a reminder that NEXT WEDNESDAY, May 20th, is a LATE START DAY.

Please contact me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.  The best email address to reach me is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us and the best phone number is (360) 264-3644.

Have a terrific week,
Michele Humble
