6th Grade Science Plans for December 5th through 9th, 2016

Greetings!

Sorry this is late, but after grading 116 Science Notebooks over the past four days, I'm a little punchy--maybe punchier than usual.  I am sending the final report grade for Trimester #1, so this is a "what you see is what you get"  situation.  Paper report cards are to be mailed out Friday, December 16th, so this is a "sneak preview", at least for Science.  Hopefully, you & your student are pleased with these results.  You will also see my comments on the paper report card.

So here are the plans for this week:

MONDAY--Students will get back their Science Notebooks, and will do a lab related to pressure.  You student should begin STUDYING FOR FRIDAY'S TEST, so NO other HOMEWORK.

TUESDAY--Your student will review for Friday's test electronically in class.  Also, he/she should be bringing home his/her Science Notebook to REVIEW FOR FRIDAY'S TEST.

WEDNESDAY--LATE START DAY--Students will continue the review, so for homework, please USE SCIENCE NOTEBOOK TO REVIEW FOR FRIDAY'S TEST.

THURSDAY--Students will review how to prove air has mass, mass vs. weight, and pressure.  This is practise for the test tomorrow, so please USE SCIENCE NOTEBOOK TO REVIEW FOR FRIDAY'S TEST.

FRIDAY--Students will take Weather Exams #1 & #2 which will be due at the end of the period, so NO HOMEWORK.

We will be using the "Quizlet" program for electronic review online.  I asked the students to enroll, and that requires a parent/guardian email address.  Hopefully you have received an email from them informing you of your student's participation.  It is a "safe site", so please be aware I asked the students to join.  If you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns about this, please contact me and I will be happy to explain why I chose this site.

As mentioned above, Wednesday is a "Late Start Day", so hopefully you are aware and prepared for this.

Crazy weather this week, so hopefully you have been receiving the "Robocalls" from the Tenino School District and/or have signed up via the School District website for the texts/flash alerts.  You will actually know about closures BEFORE they announce it on television, so it' nice to have.  Please take advantage of this wonderful resource.

As always, if you have any need to contact me, the best phone number is (360) 264-3644 and email address is humblem@tenino.k12.wa.us

Have a wonderful (and hopefully warm) week,
Michele Humble
